1942 WWII General Douglas MacArthur Figural Doll Painted Composition Freundlich

"GENERAL DOUGLAS MACARTHUR" FIGURAL DOLL
- Approx. 1942 Ralph A. Freundlich Novelty Corp. (unmarked). Approx. 7" x 18". Painted composition head (with molded hat) & body (jointed at the shoulders and hips) with fabric clothes.
This historical wartime figural has a serious lifelike character expression.
Coat and pants appear to be nicely made replacements. Shirt, tie and shoes appear to be original. Shirt sleeves have been hand cut (for better coat fit) & shoe soles are possibly refurbished. Original belt is not included.
Arms are loosely strung and do not stay in place when positioned. Right arm was designed for salute, but does not stay in that position unless held manually.
Well painted face detail and a great overall "look".
Outstanding eye appeal and scarce.
AS A BONUS
, we will include an original 1940s pinback button & 1940s matchbook cover, each picturing the famous five-star general. Both are WWII wartime period pieces.
Condition is considered FAIR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Misc. paint surface crazing/cracking with scattered spot paint loss. Moderate compo spot chipping, most obvious around hat area. Mild surface/edge fraying on clothing. No composition body cracks or regluing apparent (note: we have not removed clothing for closer inspection).
Overall, despite defects, we feel this item is still in very displayable and serviceable condition by most standards (see photos).
